All About Me

Hello everyone! I'm Lindsey Nicole Downing and I am from Titusville, Pennsylvania. I am a freshman at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. My major is Early Childhood Education with a duel major in Special Education. I also have two minors. My minors are music and history.

I was born and raised in the small town of Titusville, Pennsylvania. Not many people know, but Titusville became famous because of Colonel Edwin L. Drake. He successfully drilled the first oil well and started the oil boom. Anyways, I live with my parents and younger brother, Joseph. I currently have a dog. He is a yellow lab/springer spaniel mix. I also have a horse. She is a purebred Arabian horse. I played soccer through out my 14 years in school (pre k- 12). I continue to play in spring leagues. Soccer has been and continues to be a big part of my life. I continue to play and I am also a certified referee.

Here on campus, I play Quidditch. Yes, that is the sport played in the Harry Potter books/movies. I am a chaser for anyone who wants to know. Aside from Quidditch, I am a thespian. I love the theatre and I love acting. I've been in many musicals that include Brigadoon, Little Shop of Horrors, Seussical, Little Women, South Pacific and many others throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school.

One thing that I'm really excited about when teaching is the technology that it available to use. I have always been active in the social network community. I have a facebook, tumblr, twitter, and google+ to name a few. I am usually pretty good at finding my way around devices like phones and computers. Technology in the classroom is changing and will always change. It's something that could help reach every student even if they have a learning disability. I have seen this first hand by working at the summer program at my local YMCA for eight years. My belief statement is that ever student needs to be engaged in learning and in order to do that, we as educators, must be willing to try something new to achieve our goals.
